Designated Safeguarding Lead
At Bonneygrove Primary School, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We are fully committed to ensuring that all children are safe, protected and well supported at all times.
To support this, we have trained senior staff known as Designated Safeguarding Leads. These are key members of staff who take overall responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school.
What is a Designated Safeguarding Lead?
The Designated Safeguarding Lead is a senior member of staff with the responsibility and authority to ensure that safeguarding is effective across Bonneygrove Primary School.
They lead safeguarding practice across the school and work both strategically and on a day-to-day basis to ensure that all procedures are followed and that children receive the support they need.
Our Safeguarding Team
At Bonneygrove Primary School, safeguarding is supported by a strong team.
Alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead, we have a number of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads to ensure there is always someone available to respond to concerns.
Our Deputy DSLs are:
- Hayley Stevens, Head of Inclusion
- Jocelyn Hurry, Head of Standards
- Emine Gursoy, Assistant Headteacher
- Robyn Hail, Assistant Headteacher
- Debbie Photi, Assistant Headteacher
This experienced team ensures that safeguarding is consistently prioritised and that support is always available.
What does the DSL team do?
The Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy DSLs are responsible for:
- Ensuring all staff know how to recognise and report concerns
- Making sure staff understand the signs of abuse or neglect
- Responding to concerns and, where necessary, working with external agencies
- Monitoring and supporting children who may be vulnerable or at risk
- Keeping accurate, confidential and secure safeguarding records
- Providing guidance and support to staff to ensure children remain safe
What should I do if I have a concern?
If you have any concerns about a child or a member of our school community, please speak to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.
We understand that you may sometimes feel unsure whether something is a concern. Our advice is simple:
If something does not feel right, please tell us.
It is always better to share a concern so that it can be considered and, if needed, acted upon. The safeguarding team will decide what action is required, but they can only do this if concerns are raised.
Our commitment
At Bonneygrove Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe environment where:
- Children feel secure and supported
- Concerns are taken seriously and acted upon
- Families can feel confident that safeguarding is a priority
In simple terms
The Designated Safeguarding Lead and their team are responsible for keeping children safe at Bonneygrove Primary School and making sure any concerns are dealt with quickly and appropriately.
