Sportshall Athletics Report

On Thursday 3rd March 2016, a group of 32 children from Key Stage Two represented Bonneygrove at a local Sportshall Athletics competition. After months of training, children excelled themselves on the day. Year 3 and 4 managed to get to come 9th out of 11 schools present. Year 5 and 6 managed to come 4th out of 12 schools present, being very close to bronze medal position. The year 5/6 boys also came an amazing second overall out of the 12 schools involved, coming first in 4/5 relays they took part in.
In particular, congratulations to Polly M, who surpassed the mat during her triple jump performance and a huge well done to Katie L who picked up 5 events at the last minute and came first in many of them.  Marissa P managed to catch Bonneygrove up into first position during a relay that was being lost. Liam W and Rhiannon B put in an excellent performance during their field events. Liam reached a huge 190 during his long jump and Rhiannon had to be told to come off of the balance beam after surpassing the maximum time without a flinch! Teddy L and Ellis T managed to win the long distance race against all odds due to their admirable determination. Miss Sturrock and Miss Lees would also like to make a special mention to the Year 5/6's who all demonstrated a mature attitude throughout the competition and came first in many of the events they participated in as a result.
