Supporting Pupils with SEND
At Bonneygrove and Millbrook Primary Federation, we are committed to ensuring that every child receives high-quality teaching and support to help them achieve their full potential, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
High-Quality Teaching for All
High-quality teaching is the first and most important step in supporting pupils with SEND. Our teachers carefully plan lessons to meet the needs of all learners by:
- Adapting learning to suit a range of abilities
- Ensuring all children can access the same learning in different ways
- Teaching key skills at appropriate levels of challenge
- Using a range of strategies to support individual needs within the classroom
This approach ensures that all children are included and supported through everyday teaching.
Additional Support
Where needed, children may receive further support, including:
- Small group or one-to-one support from Teaching Assistants
- Targeted interventions to support specific areas of need
These interventions are carefully planned to complement classroom learning and support progress.
Provision Mapping and Monitoring
Each class has a Provision Map, which outlines additional support and interventions in place.
- Support is regularly reviewed and adapted
- Parents and carers are informed through parent consultation meetings and additional discussions
- Progress is closely monitored to ensure impact
Working with Families and Professionals
We work closely with parents and carers at every stage. Where further support is needed, the Inclusion Manager / Head of SEND may suggest involving external professionals.
Parents and carers are always:
- Fully informed
- Included in decisions
- Supported throughout the process
