Performance and Results
Information for Parents and Carers
We are proud of the progress our pupils make during their time at our school. This page explains how attainment is measured nationally and how our pupils have performed over the last three years compared to national expectations.
Understanding National Expectations
Primary school assessment is measured against national standards set by the Department for Education.
Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception)
Children are assessed against the Early Learning Goals (ELGs).
-
A child achieving the Expected Level of Development (ELD) has met the national standard.
-
Children achieving ELD in the prime areas and literacy and maths are described as having a Good Level of Development (GLD).
Phonics (Year One)
Pupils take the Year One Phonics Screening Check.
-
The national expected standard is a score of 32 out of 40.
-
Pupils who do not meet the standard retake the check in Year 2.
Key Stage 1 (Year Two)
Teacher assessments are used to measure attainment.
Pupils are assessed as:
-
Working Towards the Expected Standard
-
Working at the Expected Standard
-
Working at Greater Depth
Key Stage 2 (Year Six)
Pupils take national tests (SATs) in:
-
Reading
-
Mathematics
-
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (SPaG)
Writing is assessed by teacher assessment.
Expected Standard
-
A scaled score of 100 represents the national expected standard.
-
Scores range from 80 to 120.
-
Pupils may also achieve Greater Depth if they demonstrate deeper understanding.
