Charging and Remission Policy
The Charging and Remissions Policy explains when the school may ask for a contribution towards activities and when costs will be covered or reduced.
It sets out:
- What the school can and cannot charge for
- When contributions are voluntary
- How families can be supported with costs
This ensures that all decisions about charging are fair, consistent and in line with national guidance.
What does this mean for parents?
Most learning that takes place during the school day is free of charge. However, there are some activities where the school may ask for contributions, such as:
- Educational visits and trips
- Workshops or special events
- Residential experiences
In many cases, these contributions are voluntary, but they help us to provide a wide range of enriching opportunities for pupils.
What are remissions?
“Remissions” means that some families may receive financial support or have costs reduced or waived.
This may apply, for example, if a child is eligible for certain support such as free school meals.
The aim is to ensure that:
- No child is excluded from activities due to cost
- All pupils have equal access to experiences that enhance learning
Why is this policy important?
Our Charging and Remissions Policy is important because it:
- Promotes fairness and transparency for all families
- Ensures access to a broad and enriching curriculum
- Supports families who may need financial assistance
- Helps the school plan and provide high-quality learning experiences
In simple terms
This policy explains when we may ask for contributions and how we make sure all children can take part, regardless of financial circumstances.
