Parent/Carer Curriculum

At Bonneygrove and Millbrook Primary Federation, we recognise that education has changed significantly over time. Many parents and carers often comment that school today feels very different from when they were children—and this is especially true following the introduction of the National Curriculum changes in 2014.

About This Guide

This guide has been created to help parents and carers better understand what their child is learning during their time in primary school.

While it is not possible to include every detail of the curriculum, this overview is designed to:

  • Provide a clear outline of what children typically learn across their primary years
  • Explain how the curriculum is structured
  • Give insight into how children’s learning is assessed

Supporting Your Child

Understanding the curriculum can make a real difference in how you support your child at home. This guide will help you to:

  • Feel more confident about what your child is learning
  • Support key skills in subjects such as English and Mathematics
  • Understand expectations at each stage of your child’s education
  • Engage in meaningful conversations about school and learning

Working Together

We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential. By having a clearer understanding of the curriculum, parents and carers can play an active role in supporting their child’s progress and helping them to achieve their full potential.
