Bonneygrove Curriculum Maps

Our Broadening Horizons curriculum promotes high expectations and has been developed and made specific to children at our school.  The range of subjects taught ensure children receive an engaging, broad and balanced curriculum. Our curriculum fosters independence, creativity, resilience, curiosity, determination, collaboration and the ability to make connections to prior knowledge - ensuring firm foundations for the learning ahead. Our school is also gifted with an amazing outdoor environment and this is integral to our curriculum so that pupils are active, therefore improving their physical development, health and wellbeing.

From the outset, our curriculum ensures basic skills are a priority, including oracy, mathematics and reading fluency, writing and phonics - we have made reading a priority in school for 2022/23.

We ensure our children receive challenge and enrichment at every stage of learning, including through our unique Golden Threads, and we empower them to have high aspirations and set challenging goals for themselves. Our lessons are planned sequentially to build upon prior learning with the skills and knowledge that is relevant to them.

Ultimately, our aim is to equip pupils with a positive attitude towards their learning, preparing them for the next stage of their lives and for their role as local and global citizens.

The school follows the National Curriculum for England (2014). For the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 curriculum, please see: National Curriculum for Parents in the parent/carer section of the school website.

The New Framework for Early Years became statutory in September 2021. There are seven areas of learning and development that shape the Early Years curriculum. For the EYFS curriculum, please see: National Curriculum for Parents in the parent/carer section of the school website.
