Dear Parents and Carers,

As we continue through dark mornings and evenings,  I'm pleased to share some of the wonderful happenings that have been brightening our days. It's been an absolute joy to welcome parents to our school assemblies. These gatherings provide a unique opportunity for you to immerse yourselves in the Bonneygrove experience, and I encourage you to keep an eye out for your child's assembly throughout the year.

I'm continually impressed by our pupils' dedication to embodying our school values. It's a privilege to award school pips during assembly, recognising their hard work and commitment. The enthusiasm with which our children strive to earn these pips is truly heartwarming and speaks volumes about their character.

Our Year Three pupils recently embarked on a fascinating journey through time with their Ancient Egyptian workshop. These hands-on experiences bring history to life, igniting curiosity and fostering a love for learning that extends far beyond the classroom walls.

In celebration of Chinese New Year, our entire school community came together for a vibrant cultural event. It was wonderful to see everyone engaging with the rich traditions of another culture, broadening horizons and nurturing a spirit of global citizenship among our pupils.

I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our fantastic PTA for their tireless efforts in organising events that not only raise funds for our school but also bring joy to our community. The Valentine's Day non-uniform day was a particular hit!

As we continue to nurture a positive learning environment, I kindly ask for your support in two important areas. Firstly, when dropping off or collecting your children, please be mindful of our local residents and park considerately. Your cooperation helps maintain positive relationships within our wider community.

Secondly, I cannot stress enough the importance of correct school uniform. It's not just about appearance; wearing the proper uniform instils a sense of pride and boosts self-esteem among our pupils. Your support in ensuring your child is correctly dressed each day makes a significant difference to their overall school experience.

Together, we're creating a vibrant, respectful, and inspiring environment where our children can thrive. Your ongoing support and engagement are invaluable, and I look forward to continuing our journey together, nurturing the bright minds and kind hearts that make Bonneygrove such a special place.

Hello everyone! I’m Emily O’Brien and I began my journey at Bonneygrove Primary School in September 2024. My teaching career began ten years ago in an inner-city school in South East London. After leaving London, I taught at a large primary school in Luton before moving to Hertfordshire. Working in such diverse and multicultural environments has given me the incredible chance to learn just as much from the students as they have from me!

I love teaching all subjects in the curriculum, though English has always been my passion. I particularly enjoy creating model texts and engaging in shared writing with my students. In November, I published my first children's book, Kehlani the Koala. It highlights the importance of mental health, with Kehlani learning to love herself and appreciate the beauty in the world. I’m currently working on my second book, which focuses on a zebra with Autism. Through this story, I hope to foster kindness, understanding and awareness of the wonderful world of ASD.

Outside of work, I love exploring nature on new walks, trying new foods and, most importantly, spending time with my little ray of sunshine – my daughter!

"Here are some of the exciting learning opportunities our children have been part of over the last term".
